A Cultural Immersive Week in France with Miss Valerie

I’m planning a trip to France in June 2025, and I would love for you to join me!

Some of you might not know but I also lived and worked in Aix en Provence and Cannes, two stunning locales in the south of France that are renowned for their unique charm and vibrant lifestyle.

Aix en Provence, known for its historical significance and artistic heritage, captivated me with its picturesque streets lined with elegant 17th-century architecture, bustling markets filled with fresh produce, and the unmistakable scent of lavender that lingers in the air during the summer months. My time there allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture, where I enjoyed leisurely strolls through the Cours Mirabeau and spent afternoons exploring the numerous art galleries and museums that celebrate the works of famous painters like Cézanne, who hailed from this region.

I once discovered a "Bergerie" (a sheepfold) overlooking the Alpilles, where I lived for a period in my 20s with my English Boyfriend at the time. The Alpilles served as inspiration for many artists, such as Vincent van Gogh and Jean Cocteau. The light, undulating landscape, and cypress trees of the Alpilles influenced their creations. Van Gogh's paintings, such as View of the Alpilles (1890) and Champs près des Alpilles (1889), are examples of works inspired by this region.

In contrast, my experiences in Cannes were equally enriching but offered a different flavor of life. Known primarily for its glamorous film festival and luxurious lifestyle, Cannes is a city that pulsates with energy, especially during the annual festival when the streets are filled with celebrities and film enthusiasts from around the globe. I was a translator for a record label (the same one that signed Laurent Garnier at the start of his career) during the Music festival where the top parties take place.

Both Aix en Provence and Cannes have left indelible marks on my personal and professional life, shaping my perspectives and enhancing my appreciation for the diverse cultural landscapes of France. The experiences I gained while living and working in these two remarkable cities continue to influence my endeavors and inspire my passion for travel and cultural exchange.
