First sentence to know after “bonjour” (hello) and “merci” (thank you) is:

”JE VOUDRAIS” (I would like) Pronounce it like JUH VOODRAY


Cultural tip: In France people never say I want (je veux). It will appear too strong and abrupt… Good to know… So better practice JUH VOODRAY (Je voudrais!)

DIALOGUE 1:

The Baker (la boulangère/le boulanger): Bonjour madame, vous prendrez?

VOUS (you): Bonjour! Je voudrais:

- Trois (3) croissants au beurre

- Deux (2) croissants aux amandes

- et une baguette, s’il vous plaît.
