Voici un vrai petit déjeuner français.
In Modern French, we say: on se fait un ptit-dej (Let’s have breakfast!)
Say it as: ONH S'FAY A P'TEA DAYJ
Miss Valerie Travel Tip: prior to going to the Louvre, have breakfast at Café Marly, for the most stunning view of the Louvre… (mon moment préféré pour y aller, c'est le soir, au moment du coucher du soleil, la pyramide du Louvre et le palace montrent leur magie, la nuit sa poésie). Remember, experience the history and just dive back into the past. Gaze at the splendor of the Palace of the French King and Queens. The Louvre was the Royal Palace at the time of the French Monarchy before we beheaded our King and Queen, so the peasants and poor people could eat and not have to pay phenomenally high taxes to Le Clergé, our Catholic Monks, who were commissioned by the King’s Administration. Then was born as the first brutal example in the world of Democracy…. "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité" (Freedom, Fairness, Brotherhood).
Portrait of Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, seated, with her children Marie-Thérèse and Louis-Charles, 1864
Painting by = Peinture par = Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun (French, 1755–1842)
Though, I do not agree that all should have been beheaded on October 16, 1793, at the Conciergerie, like Marie-Antoinette, Queen of France, who had nothing to do with all of this. She ended up being executed with the Guillotine like American children at school, who are being slaughtered with extremely dangerous new weapons that did not exist at the time when the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution was written (Dec 15, 1791) … the damage caused by these weapons is real!
C’EST TERRIBLE (pronunciation guidance: SAY TAY-REE-BLUH) (it’s terrible!).
C’EST HORRIBLE (pronunciation guidance: SAY TO REE BLUH) (it’s horrible!)
This brilliant Archduchess of Austria had to create our charming little village in Versailles where she could find refuge and get away from the tediousness of the French Court Etiquettes and Entourage.
To order at Café Marly: JE VOUDRAIS (I would like):

Un jus d’orange Say as: A JEW DO RAN JUH - an orange juice
Un croissant Say as: A KWA-SSANH
Du pain, beurre et confiture Say as: DUH PAINH, BUH-RUH, AY, KON-FEE-TU-RUH - some bread, butter and jam
Merci Say as: MERCY - thank you
To step it up, French Style, French Vibe, you have to have a KIR ROYAL.
QU”EST CE QUE C”EST? (what is it?) Say it as: KES KUH SAY?
To order a KIR ROYAL at Café Marly: JE VOUDRAIS (I would like):
Un Kir Royal, S'il vous plaît Say it as: A KEER RO-YALUH, SEAL VOO PLAY
Kir Royal is a French cocktail, a variation on Kir. It consists of crème de cassis topped with champagne, rather than the white wine used in traditional Kir. This apéritif is typically served in a flute glass. Have a drink for the health of my family and blessings your way!
Don’t forget to say:
1- Santé (which means to your health!) Say it as: SANTAY!
2. Chin Chin? Say it as: CHIN CHIN!
